Established in 2006 by Simon Fraser University men's lacrosse Co-Head Coaches Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins, Burnaby Mountain Lacrosse is an amateur sports organization owned and operated by Vancouver based, Selects Lacrosse.
Through their many programs, camps and clinics, Cathrea and Hoskins have developed a youth-to-collegiate-to-pro model that is the first of its kind in Canada and the leader in developing British Columbia's top young lacrosse student-athletes.

Brent Hoskins, B.A. - Executive Directortop
Mr. Hoskins is an accomplished business leader with over 10 years of experience in corporate, community and organizational development. Brent specializes in the advancement of integrated marketing strategies and communications; including branding, public relations and advertising and has spearheaded the growth of numerous businesses and innovative sports initiatives.
Prior to becoming Executive Director for Selects Lacrosse, Mr. Hoskins successfully fulfilled senior level positions in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, Brent was Vice President of Marketing and Multimedia for Firstar Sports Inc, recognized by Champions of the Sport Market as Fastest-rising Brand in 2008. He was also formerly Key Account Manager West at Johnvince Foods / Planters Canada, one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies. In the public sector, Brent has over 5 years of experience coordinating recreational programs for the City of Burnaby Parks, Recreation and Culture where he also served on the City's Gender Equity and Cultural Diversity Committees.
Mr. Hoskins received a B.A. from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and was an All-American in lacrosse. He is currently Co-Head Coach of the men's lacrosse team at SFU and Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League Executive Board. Brent is a founding Director of Selects Lacrosee and the SFU Lacrosse Endowment Fund and is founding Chair of the Maple Leaf Awards Dinner.
Jeff Cathrea, B.Sc.(Kin) - Director of Operationstop
Mr. Cathrea is an experienced professional having owned or managed a number of leading edge businesses associated with sport and athletics. He has a strong background in both integrated health care and exercise physiology and is the founder of Catch 22 La-X-Training & Conditioning, North America's first lacrosse specific conditioning and speed improvement program.
In his role as Director of Operations, Jeff is responsible for providing strategic leadership for all aspects of the administration of on-field operations of Selects Lacrosse, including the Elite Touring Teams and executing viable, long-term strategy for player growth and development.
In addition to his work at Burnaby Mountain, Mr. Cathrea currently serves as Director of Active Rehabilitation at two of Canada's top performance centres: The Performance Institute (PI) and the Performax Health Group. Specializing in sport specific training and active rehabilitation, Jeff has worked with youth, amateur, professional, Olympic and Paralympic athletes. He has also worked as a Strength and Conditioning Consultant for the NLL's Vancouver Ravens and teams at both Simon Fraser University (SFU) and Trinity Western University (TWU).
Mr. Cathrea received a B.Sc. from Simon Fraser University in Kinesiology and was an All-American in lacrosse. He is currently Co-Head Coach of the men's lacrosse team at SFU and is a founding Director of Burnaby Mountain Lacrosse, the SFU Lacrosse Endowment Fund and Maple Leaf Awards.
Joyce Simons - General Manager, Executive Chef, Directortop
Ms. Simons brings extensive and diverse leadership experience to Selects Lacrosse specializing in investment/portfolio management and financial operations. Joyce has been General Manager of the Burnaby Mountain Selects and a Director of Selects Lacrosse since its inception in 2006. She is also a Founding Committee Member for the Maple Leaf Awards, an annual event in support of youth and collegiate field lacrosse in B.C.
Ms. Simons has over 20 years of experience in national telecommunications operations and is a former Director with TELUS Communications Inc, one of Canada's leading telecommunications companies. During her remarkable career, Joyce held a number of senior management positions with TELUS including Director of Enterprise Program Management, Director of Real Estate and Administrative Operations, Manager of Facility Operations and Business Continuity, and Manager of Accounting Operations.
In the spring of 2008, Joyce enrolled at the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute to pursue her life-long passion for the Culinary Arts where she completed a double diploma in Culinary and Pastry Arts, graduating at the top of her class and being named to the Presidents List.
Along with her Director and General Manager roles, Ms. Simons serves as Executive Chef for the Selects Elite Touring Teams accompanying the athletes to top college recruiting tournaments throughout North America.
Joyce's son Josh, was a member of the inaugural Burnaby Mountain Elite team and played four seasons for the Selects from 2006-2008.
