Simon Fraser University Christian Friesen Memorial Award

On behalf of the Friesen Family, the Simon Fraser University Men’s Lacrosse program and Burnaby Mountain Selects Lacrosse, we are writing to you today with an invitation to join us in permanently honouring and celebrating the life of Chris Friesen.

We are asking you to help us raise a one-time sum of $20,000, to be directed toward a fully endowed and permanent Simon Fraser University Men’s Lacrosse scholarship to honour Chris, his life and his lasting legacy of Be The Best.

This Simon Fraser University Christian Friesen Memorial Award will be awarded each year to a deserving young male student-athlete within the Simon Fraser University Men’s Lacrosse program. As of today, the fund has raised close to $14,000. The scholarship will be funded in perpetuity once the initial sum is secured.

The inaugural Christian Friesen Memorial Awards will be awarded at the 5th Annual Maple Leaf Award Dinner in January 2011, through the generosity of Chris’ parents, Randy and Ingrid Friesen, who will be making an additional gift to SFU to allow for the first award to be presented before the fund has generated a full year of interest.

There are currently two great ways for you to express your compassion, caring and support toward the Friesen Family and the legacy of Chris Friesen:

Your pledges will qualify as a tax deductible contribution. You can also make your gift online at www.sfu.ca/advancement. When designating, choose Fund of your choice (top of list) from the drop down menu and then specify: Christian Friesen Memorial Award.

The second way that you can contribute is by purchasing a commemorative Chris Friesen (CF2) lacrosse shaft. Through the incredible support of Harrow Sports, sticks will be sold at regular retail prices with 100% of net proceeds going directly towards the Christian Friesen Memorial Fund. This limited edition shaft is available in an Attack field lacrosse shaft, a Monster box lacrosse shaft, a Long-pole Defence shaft or a Goalie shaft.
