Burnaby Mountain Selects - The Ultimate Lacrosse Experience

Established in 2006 by Simon Fraser University men's lacrosse Co-Head Coaches Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins, the Burnaby Mountain Selects Field Lacrosse Program is an amateur sports organization designed to train players in a high performance environment to best prepare them for a collegiate field lacrosse career.

Selection and consideration into the program is reserved for a select group of elite student-athletes, who possess the desire to work hard and learn in a competitive team environment, while demonstrating the ability to prioritize their academics goals in the highest regard. More than 300 athletes in grades 5-12 have participated in the Selects program from over 35 communities across British Columbia's Lower Mainland, BC Coast, BC Interior, Washington State and Idaho.

The Elite Touring Team program follows the same collegiate template as the Simon Fraser University men's lacrosse program. One of the top varsity-club field lacrosse programs in North America, the Clan have captured eight Conference Titles (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008 and 2009) and have earned nine National Championship appearances, placing 2nd in 1999 and most recently playing in the 2010 MCLA Semi-Finals after reaching the Quarterfinals in 2008 and 2009.

In addition to on field practices and weekly study hall, the Selects travel to compete in top college recruiting tournaments throughout North America, winning several international events and helping to place over 40% of graduating players in collegiate field lacrosse programs.

Coachingtop

Each Selects athlete will receive structured, regimented coaching from a qualified coaching staff that has played and coached at the US collegiate level. Each team will be exposed to a progressional practice plan that will allow for the maximal amount of technical, fundamental, and game strategy skills to be learned.

All Boy's Elite Teams are operated by Head Coach Brent Hoskins. Hoskins, current Executive Director and one of the founders of Burnaby Mountain Lacrosse and the Selects Lacrosse Student-Athlete Development Model, is also the Co-Head Coach of the Simon Fraser University (MCLA Div. I) men's lacrosse program, where he has helped guide the Clan to back-to-back PNCLL Conference Championships (2008, 2009) and has been named 3x PNCLL Coaches of the Year (2008, 2009, 2010).

All Girl's Elite Teams are operated by Head Coach Chris Fox. Fox is the Selects' Director of Girl's Lacrosse and brings extensive NCAA experience having served as an Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach for three seasons (2007, 2009-2011) at Whittier College (NCAA Div. III) and one year (2008) as Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at his Alma Mater, Wheeling Jesuit University (NCAA Div. II).
